- Written homework is assigned weekly at the bottom of this webpage.
Homework is due in class on Monday.
Erasures and crossouts on homework papers are acceptable, however it must be possible
to follow the argument without difficulty. Please write your answers
in complete sentences. In the case of proofs the logic of the argument must
be completely clear for full credit.
- Collaboration on homework:
- Students are encouraged to work together on problem sets. However each
person must write up his or her own work. Copying is not allowed. The
writeup must represent the personal understanding of the
individual who wrote it.
- Exams:
- Midterm Exam(s): Date(s) to be announced
- Final Exam: Friday, December 12, 2 pm until 5 pm in the classroom.
- Grading:
- Midterm exam(s) + Homework + Final.
- Missed work:
- Unexcused missed quizzes and exams may not be made up. For the following situations, Dean's excuse or
an incapacitating short-term illness , please see the indicated web-page for the procedures that must be followed.
- Absences for religious holidays:
- If you will be missing class or unable to complete work on time due to a religious
holiday, please fill out a Religious Observance Notification Form at the religious
holiday website by Wednesday, September 10.
- Absences to represent the university:
- If you are a varsity athlete or are otherwise representing the university in an official capacity, you must provide your instructor with an official schedule of away games or similar events, signed by your coach.
