Prerequisites
Math 200 and 205, or consent of the instructor.
Synopsis of course content
This is a first course in algebraic topology. Topics to be covered
include:
- the fundamental group and covering spaces;
- cell complexes;
- homology and cohomology, singular, simplicial and cellular;
- applications such as the Brower fixed point theorem and the
Jordan curve theorem.
Textbooks
The text will probably be:
M. J. Greenberg and J. R. Harper: Algebraic Topology, a first
course, Addison Wesley Publishing Company.
Assignments
Problem sets roughly every week.

and a final exam.
