Campus Map

This is a very pretty map. Selecting "North campus" brings you to correct part of campus but Hanes Hall is not listed. Click on "PDF maps" and then on central campus map to get a useful one that you can PRINT, but you will probably want to look at in Acrobat so you can enlarge

Parking

If you are coming from the north you will arrive on East Frankin Street. Not too long after you see the campus on your left you will see a large open area with lots of trees. (I will refer to this as the QUAD even though its official name is MCCorkle Place. The Quad next to Hanes is called Polk Place).

Turn right on Henderson and then in one bacok turn left onto Rosemary Street. In about a half block you can trun left into a narrow drieway to access the parking deck (a sign that says P should point the way.) At the top of the hill you can turn left into the deck. There will not be anything (like a gate) to block your way.

Find a space and note the number. Go to one of the payment machines, enter the number and the amount of time you want to park, and pay. You do not have to put anything on your windshield. It is useful to print a receipt that will tell you when your parking expires and will remind you of your space number.

From parking to Hanes Hall

Exit the deck and walk toward the campus. There is a small gap between the buildings that will bring you to Frankin Street. Cross the street. Walk on the sidewalk on the right edge of the QUAD until you reach an internal street curiously called Cameron Avenue. Move a little to your right and walk down the little road. Hanes Hall will be striaght in front of you. Enteringfrom the left side of the building will take you into the first floor.

Sightseeing note: on the Cameron Avenue edge of the quad is the "Old Well" featured on the conference page. Its appearance my differ from the photo.

Eating Linch and Dinner

Chapel is a one dimensional universe: Franlin Street. You can retrace your steps to the parking deck but it is probably more efficient to head to the left to Columbia and go until it intersects with Franklin.

Some local advice: On Google map this starts with Bonchon, Tru, Four Corners and there are many more along the way. Some other restaurants are Pirate Captain, Wheat, Greek Yeero, Cholanad, and Spicy 9.

My personal favorite is Top of the Hill at Columbia and Franklin. Entrance on Columbia. Take the elevator up three floors, although this is probably a better destination at 5PM when you want to unwind. This is a premium place to watch UNC basketball and there are many photos in the retaurant of scenes such as Framklin Street after UNC beat Duke in the Final Four a couple of years ago.
