Rann Bar-On

Senior Lecturer in Mathematics

Duke University

I specialize in early undergraduate mathematics education, having dedicated my career to it after finishing my Ph.D. in Math in 2009 under the supervision of John Harer. For the past decade, I have taught and supervised Math 105L and 106L, entry-level laboratory calculus courses at Duke. I have edited and created labs for these courses, introducing technological and pedagogical innovations adapted to each year’s students. I have served as a college (pre-major) advisor to dozens of undergraduate students and as major advisor to a few. In 2017, I won Duke’s Advisor of the Year Award, as chosen by the Academic Advising Center based on comments from my advisees. I live in Durham, North Carolina with my partner and young child. My pronouns are he/him/his.
