About me

I am a professor in the mathematics department at Duke University. My primary interest is geometry, specifically contact geometry, symplectic geometry, and knot and braid theory, as well as low-dimensional topology.

I did my undergraduate work at Harvard, and my graduate work at MIT, under the supervision of Prof. Tom Mrowka. I was a Five-Year Fellow at the American Institute of Mathematics before moving to my current position.

I pronounce my last name Ing, though I acknowledge that this isn't the proper Cantonese pronunciation.

These have not been updated for more than a decade and are probably essentially of a historical nature.
