Write out and turn in solutions to the following exercises in Section 2.2:

• 3, 4, 5, 7
• 13, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26

Lab Assignment for Friday, October 3. You and your lab partner(s) should work through and report on Parts 1 and 2 of the Determinants module. This includes Items 1-8 in the Summary.

Each class member should file an individual report on the remaining Part 3 with (Item 9 of the Summary) before leaving for Fall Break. We will not have class on Friday, October 10. Instead, I will be in the lab area to discuss this assignment with those wanting to work then.

Maple Notes

1. The Maple command for the determinant of a matrix A is
   det(A);

2. If you are subject to the mysterious "hanging cursor" (i.e., the cursor flashes in the Maple worksheet, but typing does not produce any results), save your file. This seems to clear it up. In any event it is a good idea to save your Maple file every few minutes. Maple is subject to mysterious, catastrophic crashes.

3. The keys "Copy" and "Paste" at the left of the Sun keyboard do not work in Maple. You may accomplish these operations with the buttons at the top of the Maple screen or from the commands in the Edit menu.

4. Remmeber that " refers to the last object calculated, not the object immediately above in the worksheet. Thus, if you use " and then go off to do something else, when you come back and reenter the line, it won't do the same thing.
