Homework: Homework
will be assigned during class from time to time.
Quizzes: Short pop quizzes on material we covered recently will occur during class from time to time.
Attendance: Class attendance is required. If you cannot attend a class, email me in advance letting me know the reason.
Papers: You will write three papers on topics of your choice within mathematics and science. The due dates for your three papers are (1) Tuesday, September 27, 2016, (2) Tuesday, November 1, 2016, and (3) Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
Your papers will be posted online so that you may read each other's
papers. You can check out last year's papers (and eventually this
year's papers) here.
Paper File Names: Submit
your papers to me by email (bray@math.duke.edu) with file names that
begin with your initials, do not contain any spaces, and follow the
format used by previous papers listed here. Keep the file names short and to the point.
Midterm: There is no midterm for this class.
Final Exam: The final exam will be on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 2 - 5 p.m. in our usual classroom, Physics 205.
Grade: The grade
for the course will be based on
1) 25%: Class Participation, Homework, and Quizzes
2) 50%: Three Papers
3) 25%: Final Exam
