Text:  "Complex Variables" by Brown and Churchill, eighth or ninth edition

Objectives:  To gain a solid understanding and appreciation for the mathematical beauty and applications of complex analysis.

Homework:  Weekly, assigned out of the text.

Essays and Presentations:  Students will write an essay on the topic of their choice which has an interesting connection to complex analysis.  The students will present their topic to the class with a presentation based on their essay.

Exams:  There will be one midterm and a final exam which will be comprehensive.  Students will be tested on the topics covered in the homework and most of the material presented in class.

Grade:  The grade for the course will be based on
    1)  20%:  Homework
    2)  15%:  Essay
    3)  15%:  Presentation
    4)  20%:  Midterm
    5)  30%:  Final Exam
