L-functions of Siegel modular forms on GSp(6)

I will discuss my work to establish some of the basic analytic properties (finiteness of poles and functional equation) of the Spin L-function of Siegel modular forms on GSp(6). The proof, which is via the Rankin-Selberg method, involves the arithmetic invariant theory of orders in quaternion algebras and a construction Freudenthal used to explicitly realize some of the exceptional groups.
