On Some (In-)Stability Mechanisms in Inverse Problems
Abstract:
Many inverse problems -- including the Calder\'on problem -- are notoriously ill-posed and only conditional stability estimates can be obtained. Since these are of great significance both from a theoretical and applied point of view, it is important to understand whether these stability results are optimal. In this talk I thus discuss three robust instability mechanisms which apply to a wide range of inverse problems. This is based on joint work with Herbert Koch and Mikko Salo.
